Ambakon Lagoon

Ambakon Lagoon, ,
A clear lagoon which is currently untouched by most visitors. I found evidence that Ambakon Lagoon is a real Camotes tourism stop, although online information about it is still quite limited.

About Ambakon Lagoon

Ambakon Lagoon is a lesser-known nature attraction in the Poro Island area of Camotes, Cebu. It appears to be promoted as a quiet, local destination where visitors can enjoy freshwater, greenery, and a peaceful natural setting, away from the more established tourist attractions.

Recent local travel content also refers to the attraction as “Andrade Ambakon Lagoon,” suggesting that this may be the name used locally for the site.

One important distinction: Riverside Ambakon is also listed in Poro as a separate beach attraction, so I would not assume it is the same place as Ambakon Lagoon. Riverside Ambakon

🌿 Natural surroundings — a peaceful place to enjoy Camotes' greener side.
💦 Freshwater experience — suitable for relaxing around the water and, if locally permitted, swimming.
📸 Photography — the natural landscape provides a nice setting for photos.
🧘 Quiet atmosphere — less commercialized than popular attractions such as Santiago Bay or Buho Rock.
🛵 Good addition to a Poro Island tour — local tour packages combine it with Bukilat Cave and other attractions.

Travel Tips

  • Wear comfortable, non-slip footwear — natural lagoon areas can have muddy or slippery surfaces.
  • Bring swimwear and extra clothes if swimming is permitted.
  • Bring drinking water and light snacks.
  •  Use a waterproof phone pouch to protect your phone around the water.
  • Bring insect repellent, especially if the area is surrounded by vegetation.'
  • Carry cash, particularly if local guides or small entrance/parking fees apply.
  • Check the weather before going. Avoid swimming in a natural lagoon during or immediately after heavy rain because water levels and currents can change.
  •  Check the water depth first. Don't dive or jump unless local caretakers confirm that it is safe.
  •  Respect the environment — don't leave plastic or other rubbish, damage plants, or disturb wildlife.
  • Visit during daylight for better visibility and photography.
